Home About Our Centre Buddhism Forest Tradition Ordination News

Wat Sri Intra Atula is based in a lovely old country house in the Surrey countryside. We have four acres of grounds for personal meditation and reflection.
Founded about two years ago, the Centre is still developing and we have lots of projects and work to do. Our Monks as well as friends and visitors to the Centre help on a daily basis.
In line with our Buddhist principles we do not operate for commercial gain and so rely on donations. Of course all donations are welcomed and appreciated, but please bear in mind that we receive a lot of daily commodities such as soap, toothpaste, medicines, rice and often cannot make good use of it all. On the other hand our projects all require funding.
Our Abbott is Ajaan Nikhom and we have six monks staying with us in total. Most of our monks are Thai but many speak some English and we have one English Monk. So please do come to visit us and feel welcome to meet and talk with our monks or lay supporters.

Our Master is Luang Poo Tong Inn. On the 18th March this year Luang Poo reached his 84th year (12th cycle) and his 63rd year as a Monk. Based at Wat Pa Koong in Roi-et, North-East Thailand, Luang Poo Inn has 151 temples under his leadership and travels exhaustively to give his time and his Dhamma Talks to the many, many people who gain so much from meeting him. He is loved, respected and revered for his wisdom and attainment. He is also generous in sharing his time and his Merit with all those who come to see him.

The eight precepts are normally received on Holy Days and comprise the following commitments:-

Following the Dharma Talk the Sangha chant to offer blessings and share the merit they have made with all the people present

Earlier this year HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajirakloachaoyuhua paid respects to Luang Poo Thong In Katapunyo and bestowed upon him the title of Phrarajphatcharayanamuni recognising his lifelong commitment to Buddhism and the teaching of the Dharma
